Compatibility

The 1/2" In-line Tap is designed for use with standard 1/2" (16 mm) flexible hosepipe, which is the supply tubing used across the AutoPot product range including the 1Pot, XL, and FlexiTank-based layouts. It should not be used with 1/4" or 3/8" pipe without an adapter, as the barb sizing will not seal correctly.

The tap is a passive fitting with no moving parts beyond the lever mechanism, so it is compatible with gravity-fed, low-pressure pump-assisted, and drip systems running 1/2" supply lines. It is not rated for high-pressure mains water connections.

Usage Guidelines

Routine use of this tap follows a simple two-step cycle: flush, then close.

1. Inspect frequency. Check the tap and surrounding pipe connections every couple of weeks during regular system maintenance. In hard-water areas or where algae growth is a concern, inspect more frequently.
2. Flush procedure. With a collection vessel or drain positioned below the tap outlet, open the tap fully. Allow the flow to run for 30–60 seconds or until the exiting water runs clear and free of visible particulate.
3. Close and observe. Close the tap and observe the upstream pipe and connected pots for a few minutes to confirm normal flow has resumed at all outlets.
4. Record the date. Noting the flush date in your grow log helps establish the right cadence for your specific water supply and system size.
