Usage Guidelines

- Prepare the sample. Have the nutrient solution at a stable temperature. The automatic temperature compensation handles variation between 5 and 50°C, but allowing a freshly mixed cold solution to reach room temperature before testing can improve repeatability.
- Submerge the probe. Insert the probe end of the EC40 PRO into the solution up to the marked depth. The meter activates automatically on contact with liquid. Do not submerge the unit above the maximum immersion line.
- Wait for the reading to stabilize. The 20 blue LEDs will light up to a level corresponding to the EC, TDS, or CF of the solution. Allow a few seconds for the display to settle before reading the value.
- Read the scale. Each LED segment corresponds to a step in the printed scale on the meter’s body. The lit segments indicate the current reading in mS/cm, CF, or PPM depending on which scale you are reading against.
- Remove and rinse. After taking the measurement, remove the meter from the solution and rinse the probe tip with clean water to prevent cross-contamination between tests or salt buildup on the electrode.
- Check battery indicator. A separate LED on the meter indicates battery level. Replace batteries when the battery indicator activates to ensure continued accuracy.
